I watched Viva Laughlin and had the same thought as you. They are trying to find a plot so they can string a few songs together -- and the actors' voices are hard to hear over Elvis, the Stones and Blondie (that's as far as I made it) -- which may or may not be a good thing. I'm just back from Santa Fe, where Peggy (she used to watch you on Austin TV) and I spent a few days away from our respective jobs. I spent last night getting caught up on some TV shows that I missed, Laughlin among them. I should have stuck it out to see if it was cancelled halfway through the program. I'm a sucker for musicals, but at least let me care about one of the characters. Cindi (formerly known as Whoopie Woman)

Hey Cindi-- I haven't yet, but I do plan to try at least one more Viva Laughlin. If there is one. Whenever I hear someone has been in Santa Fe I think of the line from a song in RENT about opening a restaurant in Santa Fe. I know it is quite the frou frou place now...along with Taos...but I remember it from my youth as the 50's version of the Southwest. They've tried musicals on TV often enough without any success. Except on the Simpsons and Family Guy. Their takes on musicals are priceless! Anyway...nice to hear from you...glad your part of CA isn't on fire. San Francisco is...but not your valley!
